Happy Easter!

Jesse's first Easter has come and almost gone and it was a wonderful day! Holidays are so much more fun with little kids, and I'm sure it gets even better once they're old enough to actually understand what is going on. Despite the fact that Jesse was unaware of the cause for the celebration, we still had a really special day. He hardly fussed all day, which is a very rare occurrence these days, and we even got him to giggle for us quite a bit (yesterday was his first real laugh).

After church we enjoyed lunch with my parents and then a relaxing afternoon spent visiting with them while Jesse slumbered for nearly 3 hours. Here are some pictures of our day. Jesse wore a cute little outfit given to him by Virginia, and I bought him some blue, green, and yellow argyle socks to go with it. It was perfect for Easter.

When this happens--when our perishable earthly bodies have been transformed into heavenly bodies that will never die--then at last the Scriptures will come true:
"Death is swallowed up in victory,
O death, where is your victory?
O death, where is your sting?"
For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. How we thank God, who gives us victory over sin and death through Jesus Christ our Lord! --
I Cor. 15:54-57

Jesse Talks with Daddy

This video was taken about a month ago, but I had trouble uploading it then, so I'm just now getting around to sharing it. Jesse is definitely more vocal these days, and it's fun to "talk" back and forth with him.

Who is that baby in the mirror?

The Cousins Meet

This past week Katie, Jeremy and Benjamin came for a visit from Houston. This was the first time we got to meet our nephew and the first time that the cousins got to meet each other. At five and a half weeks (Ben) and eleven weeks (Jesse), they didn't really seem to notice each other very much, but we sure had lots of fun with them. One day we did a photo shoot with the two boys in the matching outfits that their Grandma Ann bought them. They actually cooperated quite well for the photo shoot, but it was challenging to find a time to take pictures, since it seemed that one of them was always hungry, fussy, or sleeping.

Here are some of the best pictures from the shoot. My mother-in-law and sister-in-law took all the pictures and did a great job. I think they got close to 500 pictures between the two of them!

Jesse wasn't so happy about this at first:

Now he's warming up to the idea:

Jesse has discovered the joy of chewing on his hands in the past week, so he looks like this in many of the pictures:

They aren't going to like some of these pictures when they're older:
